Jason Charles Reher: 1967-2006

Former Seamboat Springs resident Jason Charles Reher was killed March 27, 2006, in a work-related accident in Wyoming. He was 38.

Jason had been working as a railroad crew supervisor, repairman and, most recently, a switchman for Canac Industrial Rail Management. He also was a regional service technician for Dell Computer. While in Steamboat, he was the computer systems manager for the Sheraton Steamboat Resort Hotel.

Jason was born Sept. 3, 1967, in Laramie, Wyo. He graduated from Laramie Senior High School in 1986. In 1991, he graduated from the University of Wyoming with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.

Jason grew up cross country skiing, and he raced throughout his high school career, winning the prestigious Governor’s Cup in Jackson Hole, Wyo., in 1986.

Growing up, he spent many summers working with his dad on archaeological excavations and surveys. He also traveled to Europe to visit his mother’s relatives in England. In his adulthood, Jason was an avid fisherman who loved the outdoors. He was known for avoiding the marked trail and forging his own.

Jason also was an excellent bowler who bowled perfect games of 300. He spent much of his time at the bowling alley and was proud to be a member of the No. 1 team in Green River, Wyo. Jason also was very fond of animals, especially his two cats, Buscha and Milton. Jason was known to be an animated storyteller. He would light up the room with his presence while telling delightful stories about his days growing up in the fields of Wyoming.
