Jack Horner: Simple beer kind of guy

Ya know, I’ve enjoyed many macro brews in my lifetime. The influx of the many craft brews has definitely changed the type of brews offered and the type of consumers.

I was sitting in a local establishment last week enjoying a cold macro brew. I watched and listened to an obvious non-local walk up to the bar and ask the usual question, “What craft beers do you have on tap?” This seems to be the new P.C. question to ask.

Well, the pleasant bartender politely gave him all the information. The gentleman’s next question, which I hear over and over again, was “May I taste the brews?” As I watched him sniff the fragrance, smack his lips and savor the flavors, I finally said to him, “You must be a true craft beer expert with all that knowledge.”

I then very politely asked him what he thought of a guy like me just having a plain old macro brew. As he stared at me in a very superior and snobbish manner, he simply said, “I just think you are very simple.”

Oh yes, how the times have changed for us simple guys and our macro brews.
