STUDENT EXCELS IN AG COMPETITION

OAK CREEKSouth Routt native Tommy Rossi, who is attending Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, walked away with a national champion honor and a runner-up to the national champion honor at the National Postsecondary Agriculture Students Convention in March in North Dakota.

Rossi was part of a three-person sheep livestock team that outcompeted teams from 23 different states.



They presented information and the agricultural issues, did problem-solving exercises and took written exams to earn them the national champion honor.

Rossi also was part of an agricultural knowledge bowl team that placed second out of 33 teams.

Paint job planned for youth center.

PAINT JOB PLANNED FOR YOUTH CENTER

OAK CREEKBMC West in Steamboat Springs has donated paint and painting supplies to help spruce-up the hut next to Oak Creek’s ice rink.

Oak Creek resident and mother Joni Blankenship is working with the town of Oak Creek to turn the hut into a youth center and needed donations to get the first step of painting the building done.

Interim Executive Director of Grand Futures Angela Kimmes helped secure the donation of paint and supplies.
