SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER BOWS OUT OF RUNNING

OAK CREEKThe South Routt School District Board of Education has a vacant seat in District 3, which is Phippsburg and western Stagecoach.

Vice President Pete Koler will not be seeking another term. Interested community members should submit a letter of interest to the South Routt School District by Oct. 10. Bill Babcock is running for District One, Dawn Ford is running for District Two and Bob Logan is running for District Six. All candidates are unopposed. The Board of Education meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month at 7 p.m., but the October meeting will be moved up the Oct. 10 in order to meet budget calendar requirements.

RECENT ARREST NIXES PLEA DEAL FOR RESIDENT

STEAMBOAT SPRINGSA 22-year-old Oak Creek man on Friday was set to enter pleas for two felony theft cases but a recent arrest nixed the deal.

Maurice Adama Choquette’s court-appointed attorney had negotiated a plea agreement with Deputy District Attorney David Moffat prior to the court hearing

Choquette was ready to enter pleas to charges stemming from an alleged theft from his former employer and an attempted theft of a stereo from a car, but the man was arrested Wednesday night.
