LIGHTING CONTEST THROUGHOUT AREA

OAK CREEKSouth Routt residents who creatively light up the night can compete for cash and credit in the next few weeks.

The towns of Yampa, Oak Creek and Phippsburg hold separate contests during the Christmas season to recognize the best-lit homes. People in Oak Creek who wish to enter the town’s contest must call the Oak Creek Town Hall by Friday.

First-, second- and third-place winners receive a $100, $55 and $25 credit, respectively, on their electric bill. The date of judging has not yet been set. Yampa residents should contact Yampa Town Hall of their intention to enter the town’s lighting contest by Dec. 19. Yampa Valley Electric Association awards first-, second-, third- and fourth-place winners with cash prizes of $100, $75, $50 and $25.

Phippsburg residents who wish to enter the lighting competition should pick up a form the Phippsburg Post Office on or by Dec. 20. Judging will be held between 6 and 8 p.m. that evening.
