Hot Air Balloon Rodeo seeks weekend volunteers

The Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association is looking for volunteers to help launch 30 hot air balloons over the Yampa Valley on Saturday and Sunday during the annual Hot Air Balloon Rodeo. No experience is necessary. For those who aren’t interested in the balloon crew or can only commit one day, there also are opportunities to serve as a judge in the “Splash and Dash” competition in which the hot air balloons dip into the water to be judged on the biggest splash and longest dash. All volunteers will receive an Annual Hot Air Balloon Rodeo T-shirt and breakfast.

Available volunteer opportunities and shifts on either day:

Saturday or Sunday at Bald Eagle Lake: 5 to 9 a.m., balloon launch crew assistance; 6:30 to 10:30 a.m., competition judges, pond watch and bullseye; and 5 to 11 a.m., assisting in the Zero Waste initiative.
