Holiday weekend means special business hours
Local government offices and many banks and other businesses will operate under special schedules for the upcoming holiday weekend.
All Steamboat Springs and Routt County offices will be closed Friday, including city and county building and planning departments, the Department of Motor Vehicles, the county commissioners’ office and the Department of Health and Human Services. Local government offices also will be closed Dec. 31.
Hayden and Oak Creek town government offices will be closed today and Friday, as well as Dec. 31.
Area residents and visitors won’t have to worry about a change in trash collection service, according to Waste Management. Residential garbage service won’t be affected by the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, a Waste Management employee said Wednesday, meaning Dumpsters and trash cans loaded with shredded wrapping paper and gift boxes will be emptied on schedule.
Those looking to cash Christmas checks or take care of other financial business during the holidays should contact their banks for updated schedules. Alpine Bank, Vectra Bank, First National Bank of Steamboat Springs and Bank of the West, formerly known as Community First National Bank, will be open for business until 3 p.m. Friday. First National Bank of the Rockies and Wells Fargo are scheduled to close at 2 p.m. Friday, and Mountain Valley Bank will close at noon Friday. All banks will be closed Christmas Day, and most will operate under normal business hours on New Year’s Eve.
Food shoppers looking to make last-minute Christmas Day purchases for their holiday feasts can do so at Safeway, which will be open for business from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. City Market will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday but will be closed Christmas Day.
Wal-Mart will be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday but will be closed Christmas Day. Ace at the Curve hardware store will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and closed Christmas Day.
