Heroes remembered: 2018 Memorial Day Service in Steamboat Springs

Members of Steamboat Springs Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4264 and American Legion Post 44 hosted the 2018 Memorial Day Service at Steamboat Springs Cemetery on Monday. This year’s event specifically honored the 22 Routt County soldiers who died during World War I.

They include: John Harvey Bird, Yampa; Willard L. Brown, Yampa; Charles F. Baer, Steamboat Springs; Lloyd M. Dobson, Pagoda; Raymond R. Gretsinger, Yampa; Wesley E. Gifford, Steamboat; Dr. Robert Gilmore, Steamboat; Ben J. Hofstetter, Hayden; Leo J. Hill, Steamboat; George Klumker, Toponas; George L. Lawson, Macgregor; William H. Long, Dunckley; Clayton Lewis, Oak Creek; Ralph M. Mabee, Hayden; Marcy M. Meaden, Deep Creek; James E. Noyce, Steamboat; William C. Reed, Yampa; Chester B. Reise, Hayden; Edward Schrupp, McCoy; Zetto D. Stoddard, Bear River; Guy Utter, Steamboat; and Raymond C. Whitmer, Clark.
