Heidi Shurtleff: Where does safety and smart skiing start?
With Trish O’Connell.
When you are fortunate enough to know O’Connell and her integrity, talent, compassion and kindness, it is never surprising that she is voted as one of the best instructors in the Best of the Boat survey year after year.
However, in my view, she took it to a new level last week. During lunch, I witnessed her take out the trail map and show her class of approximately six -year-old children the “Responsibility Code.” I was most impressed that she was educating them on various safety measures such as the importance of being cognizant of other skiers and looking up the mountain before starting down.
I would like to thankO’Connell for making the mountain safer for all of us.
