Hayden woman killed in rollover crash

Steamboat Pilot & Today

A 28-year-old woman from Hayden was killed Sunday night in a one-vehicle rollover crash on U.S. Highway 40.

Sergeant Scott Elliott with the Colorado State Patrol said Christine Carlberg died at the scene after she was ejected from a 2005 Chevrolet Trail Blazer.

Carlberg’s 4-year-old child, who was secured in a child seat, sustained minor injuries in the crash and was transported to Yampa Valley Medical Center. The child was later released to the father.

According to a news release issued by Elliott, Carlberg was driving westbound when her SUV traveled off of the right side of the road and rolled several times. She was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, Elliott said.

The accident occurred at 9:28 p.m. four miles east of Hayden near mile marker 111.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
