Hayden to consider tax rate at meeting tonight

The Hayden School Board is scheduled to consider tonight whether to approve the 2010 mill levy for property tax collections next year. One mill equals $1 per $1,000 of assessed property value.

The levy of about 29.5 mills is higher than the 2009 mill rate of about 26.4 mills. Superintendent Mike Luppes said the increase was because of Hayden voters’ approval last month of a property tax increase to generate an additional $321,473 annually for the district for four years.

The School Board also will consider approving Hayden’s requests this year to the Education Fund Board. The meeting is at 6 p.m. in Room 8 at Hayden Middle School.
