Hayden to consider fee for vacant lot owners

Matt Stensland

— The Hayden Town Council on Thursday will consider imposing a fee on vacant lot owners not currently connected to the town’s water system.

Town staff members will give their reports beginning at 7 p.m. The regular meeting starts at 7:30 p.m.

According to a report prepared by town manager Dave Torgler, there are currently 188 vacant lots that have the ability to connect to the town’s water system, which is sized to meet the demands.

“However, there are no funds coming into the town to service these maintenance and repair costs,” Torgler said.

Torgler is recommending a fee, which he said is oftentimes used by water district.
