Hayden superintended charged with DUI put on administrative leave
Steamboat Springs — Trudy Vader, the Hayden School District superintendent charged with a DUI, was put on administrative leave with pay Friday.
Hayden School Board President Brian Hoza said that the board has not yet been able to get together to discuss the issue. He said they are going to have a special meeting early next week with an executive session, where Vader’s personnel issue will be discussed.
“We’ll be able to determine a short-term and long-term stance on the issue,” Hoza said.
In the meantime, Hoza said contingency plans are being put in place so the school district’s business is taken care of.
On Tuesday night, a Routt County Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped to help Vader, whose truck was stuck in snow along Colorado Highway 131 just north of Yampa. Vader was subsequently arrested on suspicion of DUI, no proof of insurance and careless driving.
Vader said she was traveling back from Cripple Creek, where she had testified at a rape trial involving a former student.
Vader has apologized for the incident.
