Hayden officials to continue discussion about residency requirements

— The Hayden Town Council on Thursday is expected to continue its discussion of policies affecting town employees.

The discussion will start at 6:15 p.m during a work session. The council’s regular meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m.

The policies that will be discussed relate to residency requirements for police officers and the town’s policy for driving town-owned vehicles home.

Town Manager David Torgler wrote in his report that town employees can currently take vehicles home. This allows them to quickly respond to emergency calls.

Council member Tim Redmond has expressed concerns about the town’s residency requirements for police officers.

Currently, there is no residency requirement for officers, and several officers live outside the town.
