Hayden officials to consider June cycling event

— Hayden Town Council members on Thursday night will consider allowing use of town streets for a cycling event in June.

The council will hear staff reports beginning at 7 p.m. The regular meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m.

The agenda is light and includes a reading of a proclamation recognizing agriculture week and agriculture day.

The proposed cycling event will take place from noon to 2 p.m. June 7 and is a fundraiser for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. It would be a ride, not a race, and would start and end on the Cog with a tour through the town. Wes Dearborn and Diane Heavey are asking the town for permission to use the roads. They are hoping for about 100 riders to participate in the inaugural event.
