Wrapping up the summer reading program, Alex Albaugh is the Hayden Public Library’s eighth and final Reader of the Week.

Alex is 8 years old and his parents are Amy and Lief. He has a 3-year-old brother Nicholas, and his best friend is Kairie. The family has two cats — Ivy and Faux. He has lived in Craig for seven years.

Alex’s favorite show is “Ninja Turtles” and his favorite book is “Gingerbread Friends” by Jan Brett. He also likes to read the My Father’s Dragon trilogy.

Alex has been visiting the library since he was a baby and often enjoys a cup of gingerbread tea with the librarian. In his free time, he likes to play Board Kings. He plays soccer, basketball, baseball and takes horseback riding lessons.

He will be in second grade this coming school year, and likes PE, art and math. Asked if he had any advice for other children about reading, he said, “to try playing a board game that requires reading.” When he learned he was the Reader of the Week, he “was super excited.”
