Hayden invites residents to weigh in on planning
October 16, 2007
Hayden officials are asking residents to comment about plans for future land use, while the town updates its Comprehensive Plan to include more detail of areas west of Hayden and near Yampa Valley Regional Airport.
Residents can comment about drafts of land-use maps at Town Hall or at the West Routt Public Library until Oct. 24.
The maps outline areas for varying degrees of residential, industrial and business development for land west of town, as well as outlining future locations for schools, parks and other open spaces.
Residents, along with the Planning Commission and the Town Board, developed the Comprehensive Plan in 2005. However, the plan was not exhaustive, and officials are looking to expand its reach to about one mile beyond the current borders of town.
Although the Comprehensive Plan does not indicate any future zoning, it will be used by the town to direct future development decisions as Hayden continues to grow.
In the first week of public comment, only one resident has stopped by Town Hall to weigh in, Town Clerk Susan Irvine said.
