Hayden Garden Club planning meeting slated for Wednesday

The Hayden Garden Club will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 30 at the Hayden Library. This is a planning meeting for all future field trips to our local gardeners’ homes. Bring any tips, ideas or questions about gardening to this meeting. Meet your local gardeners and enjoy some fresh fruits and vegetables. For more information, call the library at 970-276-3777.

Yoga in the Botanic Park summer classes set to begin Saturday

The summer yoga program at the Yampa River Botanic Park begins Saturday, June 2. All levels of yoga experience are welcome to join on the lawn of the Botanic Park from 9 to 10 a.m. every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday through September 1, weather permitting. The park is free and yoga class is by donation. A suggested $10 donation helps support the park. Hayden Library seeks local artist for inaugural art show

The Hayden Library is looking for any local artists to participate in an upcoming art show in June. The newly-formed art group invites artists to join in the first ever show at the library. There will be a formal Art Opening evening sponsored by the Friends of the Library at 5 to 8 p.m., June 22. Any Hayden artist is welcome to join the show. For more information, call the library at 970-276-3777. The deadline to join the show is June 8.

Centennial Farms & Ranches deadline extended to Thursday

History Colorado and the Colorado Department of Agriculture are extending the deadline to apply for inclusion in the 2018 class of Centennial Farms & Ranches to Thursday, May 31. Join 550 other Colorado Centennial Farms & Ranches by applying at historycolorado.org/centennial-farms-ranches or calling 303-866-3392.
Eligible properties must meet the following criteria.
■ Have remained in the same family continuously for 100 years or more.
■ Be a working farm or ranch.
■ Have a minimum of 160 acres. However, properties with fewer than 160 acres can qualify if they gross at least $1,000 in annual sales.
■ Properties that have four or more well-maintained structures — at least 50 years old — are also eligible for a Historic Structures Award.
Applicants must provide information about the history of their property and its buildings and demonstrate the farm or ranch meets the program’s requirements. If applying for a Historic Structures Award, applicants must submit photos of the eligible buildings or structures.
The 2018 Colorado Centennial Farms & Ranches ceremony will be held at 1 p.m., August 24 at the Weatherport Entertainment Tent at the Colorado State Fair in Pueblo.
