Haley Brabec: Thanks to voters who supported half-cent sales tax

This month the sixth graders at the Steamboat Springs Middle School, including me, went to a week-long science school at Perry-Mansfield. It was great. The money for this program came from the 2B half-cent tax for schools.

Here are some of my favorite parts of the trip. I loved cabin time, when we made skits to be shared around the fire that sadly we could not have this year. We slept in cabins for three nights — when our counselor could get us to sleep.

I thought it was interesting when we went to Fish Creek Falls and learned about the watershed. My favorite part was when we went to Fetcher Pond and compared the temperature, pH level and the amount of dissolved oxygen in the water.

Thank you Rocky Mountain Youth Corps and the voters who support 2B, the half-cent sales tax for schools.
