Guinea pig rescued after getting trapped between boulders

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — Steamboat Springs Police Department animal control officers were called Saturday to help rescue a guinea pig.

Officer Krista Amatuzio said the animal got stuck between two boulders at a home on Spar Street.

“I believe the family was out playing with it, and it ran away,” Amatuzio said.

She said that before she arrived to help, a construction worker rescued the guinea pig with gloves, and the animal was taken home.

Amatuzio said it was her first time dealing with an issue related to a guinea pig.

“I’ve had ferret ones but no guinea pigs,” she said.
