Gilbertson leads big mountain team

Low snow conditions have made it a tough year on the big mountain skiing competition circuit, but the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club skiers got a chance last weekend, skiing in Vail to make up for a California competition canceled in January.

Bryan Gilbertson led the way for local skiers, placing fourth in the boys 15- to 18-year-old division. Parker Temple was 13th.

Liam Baxter, meanwhile, was ninth in the boys 12-14 division.
