STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — The Steamboat Pilot & Today has partnered with Routt County United Way to offer a listing of volunteer opportunities across Routt County. For a complete list of volunteer opportunities and more information, visit RouttCountyUnitedWay.org.

Featured volunteer opportunity 

The Yampa Valley Autism Program is in need of volunteers for its GrowDome community cultivation project. Call Lisa at 970-846-1519 to get involved.

Time-sensitive volunteer opportunities

• Being a youth mentor is a way to make a difference in a youth’s life and your own. It’s National Mentoring Month, and Partners in Routt County needs volunteer senior partners for its Youth Mentoring Program. Those who are interested should contact Maura Walsh at maura@partnersrouttcounty.org, call 970-879-6141 or stop by the Partners office, 465 Anglers Dr.

• Northwest Colorado Health needs volunteers to sell daffodils for hospice. Contact Kyleigh Lawler at 970-871-7609 or klawler@northwestcoloradohealth.org.

• An individual in Routt County with a long-term disability needs two to three volunteers to assist in cleaning out the garage, shoveling snow in the driveway and possibly helping with transporting groceries. If interested in volunteering, call United Way at 970-879-5605.

• Routt County Women United is organizing volunteers to help students with homework and reading after school in the elementary school libraries. Sign up at RouttCountyUnitedWay.org. For more information, call 970-879-5605 or email office@RouttCountyUnitedWay.org.

• The Trail Maintenance Endowment Fund at the Yampa Valley Community Foundation is seeking Trail Fund Ambassadors for 2019. Volunteers are needed to help support the fundraising efforts of the Trail Maintenance fund. Those who are interested should email Helen@yvcf.org or call 970-879-8632 for more information.

Ongoing volunteer opportunities

• LiftUp of Routt County is in need of Grocery Rescue volunteers to pick up food from grocery stores and bring it to the Food Bank. Volunteer shifts are scheduled with the volunteer coordinator, so those who are interested should fill out an application online, call 970-870-0727 or email volunteer@liftuprc.org.

• Routt County Humane Society is in need of volunteers to help clean shelter kennels on mornings and weekends. Visit Routthumane.org to apply for volunteer openings or call 970-879-7247 for more information.

• Advocates of Routt County is in need of volunteers to assist with administrative and office support. Contact Marnie at 970-879-2034 or marnie@avdocatesrc.org.

• UCHealth Yampa Valley Medical Center is in need of volunteers to help assist staff and patients pre- and post-surgery with cleaning of the patient area and stocking supplies. Contact Peggy peggy.bowers@uchealth.org or 970-870-1146.
