Georgia Belle Hinkle


Georgia Belle Hinkle died Aug. 2, 2003, in Grand Junction. She was 75.

Georgia was born Aug. 16, 1927, in Hill Top. She met Jimmie Dean Hinkle in 1946 and married him Dec. 24, 1947.

She worked as a typist for Pittsburg Paint and Glass in Denver for nine years before choosing to be a full-time homemaker. The family eventually moved to Routt County, where they lived on a ranch helping Jimmie’s brother, Donald.

Georgia enjoyed sewing, embroidery and crocheting items for her family and friends. Her favorite things to make were Western shirts and blouses, curtains and quilts. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Pearl Newton; and her husband of 56 years, Jimmie Hinkle.

Georgia is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Whaley of Buena Vista and Carol Hinkle of Oak Creek; two sons, Jimmie David Hinkle and Wayne Scott Hinkle of Denver; one brother, Atlee Larson of Parker; one sister, Ellen Motsenbacker of Parker; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations in Georgia’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
