Friday running movie to help raise funds

Last month, the local Girls on the Run organization played host to ultra-marathon champion Nikki Kimball, and Friday, the organization will build on that relationship by showing a documentary featuring Kimball.

The event will serve as a fundraiser for the organization, which is a 10-week program built around empowering elementary and middle-school girls. Divided into groups, the girls meet after school and run, all building up to a 5-kilometer run in November.

The film, “Finding Traction,” documents Kimball’s attempt to break the record for Long Trail, a 273-mile trail through Vermont.

The event will run from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday at Strawberry Park Elementary. Admission is $5, cash only, to be collected at the door.
