STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — Bud Werner Memorial Library is launching a winter of free jazz. Attendees will listen to live jazz while learning more about the genre from an accomplished band of local musicians.

Jazz at the Library, a month-long series, kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9 in Library Hall with Hearding Cats, a local five-piece jazz ensemble that features Sean Fairley, Neil Marchman, Tyler Peyman, Mike Lewis and Ron Wheeler.

The group, which formed in 2017, will present an hour-long concert followed by conversation around the history of the tunes that were performed.
