Free parenting event aims to help families thrive

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — The second annual Parent Connection Summit, sponsored by the Routt County Youth Services Coalition, will be held from 8:15 a.m. to 2:55 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15. The event includes 15 speakers who will present on a variety of topics including positive discipline, individualized education programs and 504 plans, social media safety and building open communication with your child.

The keynote speaker is Eddie Konold, who will speak on connecting yourself, your family and your community. The event is free and includes Spanish translation, free lunch and free childcare with online registration.

In addition, an action planning component was created to help parents immediately apply the insights gained from the sessions into a simple action plan. There will be time allowed for parents to create this with the support of the presenter and other parents.
