Free home energy assessments available

Some 300 households throughout the Yampa Valley already have learned how to reduce their home energy bills through an in-home energy assessment. Those assessments are currently free to homes that have service from Yampa Valley Electric Association and primary home heating through Atmos Energy natural gas.

The comprehensive home energy efficiency review conducted by a local certified energy analyst also includes a gas appliance safety check, information on rebates available for energy efficiency upgrades and a free, quick fix installation such as a hot water heater blanket, programmable thermostat or hot water pipe insulation.

Customers can sign up for a free home energy assessment online at EnergySmartColorado.com then click on “For Your Home.” YVEA customers without Atmos primary heating can pay $150 for the review.

Contact Suzie Romig with Yampa Valley Sustainability Council at 970-871-9299, ext. 104, or suzie@yvsc.org.
