Former city planner in private practice
Former Steamboat Springs city planner Scott Woodford has returned to work in a private planning practice.
Peter Patten, founder of Patten Associates Inc., announced Woodford is joining his consulting firm as a full-time project manager and land planner.
Most recently, Woodford worked as a senior land planner for the city of Aspen.
“I am very excited about bringing Woodford back to Steamboat because he understands the public process extremely well and has maintained outstanding relationships in both the public and private sectors here in Steamboat,” Patten said. “Scott has a great deal of respect within the local development community and will be particularly strong with government approvals.”
Initially, Woodford’s time will be spent working on final approvals for Wildhorse Marketplace, Whitney Ward’s new commercial development project along Mount Werner Road, and on projects in Hayden. Patten said he anticipates that the expertise Woodford developed while working on the West of Steamboat Plan will be an asset to his office.
Half of Patten’s time will be spent as project manager and land planner for Wildhorse Meadows, Ward’s companion mixed-use ski base project on 47 acres adjacent to the Tennis Center. Patten expects Wildhorse Meadows to go through initial master planning later this year.
Office manager Tricia Higgins also started this week at PAI. Higgins spent the past several years in Avon as controller for First Western Mortgage Services, a division of WestStar Bank. She also worked in the Eagle County Planning Department. Her duties will include enhancing client services. Half of her time will be spent at the new offices for Wildhorse Meadows in the Mason and Morse building on the south side of town on U.S. Highway 40.
“This will really set PAI up well to handle our existing clients more efficiently, as well as to take on a greater role for Wildhorse Meadows,” Patten said.
PAI has offered land-use planning, development project management and governmental approvals services since 1999 from its offices in the First Financial Center next to the main Vectra Bank building on Mount Werner Road.
Patten has completed site design for Catamount Ranch and Club, Angler’s Retreat, Hidden Springs Ranch and Grassy Creek Ranch, as well as many other projects in the Yampa Valley.
Woodford and his wife, Kathy, have just purchased a townhome in Stagecoach and are expecting their first child in a few weeks.
