Former City Council President Joe Brennan dies at 68

A family member has confirmed the death on Jan. 30 of former Steamboat Springs City Council President Joe Brennan, 68, at his home in Fort Meyers, Florida. Friends and family were by his side, according to a sister, Nancy Brennan.

Brennan was elected to City Council in 1983 and chosen City Council president by his fellow council members in November 1985.

The developer and manager of the Bear Claw II condominium project on the edge of the slopes at Steamboat Ski Area, Brennan was also a longtime member of the Mount Werner Water and Sanitation District board.



No memorial plans have yet been made.

Colorado House passes health insurance bill

Colorado’s House of Representatives on Monday passed House Bill 1232, which aims to provide a lower-cost, higher-quality health insurance option for the individual and small group markets on the state’s health insurance exchange.
