Food festival seeking Oak Creek board’s OK

— A permit allowing the Taste of South Routt to be held at the community park in Oak Creek goes before the Town Board tonight.

The town also will have to agree to co-sponsor the event, so it will be covered by Oak Creek’s insurance.

Mayor Deb Van Gundy expects to see the community event have smooth sailing getting the permits and the co-sponsoring.

Now, it just needs volunteers.
The Taste of South Routt committee chair Dave Bonfiglio is still looking for helpers and vendors.

“We’re always looking for volunteers,” he said.

Last year, vendors were signing up in a last-minute rush. Bonfiglio wants to avoid that this year by calling and inviting restaurants and businesses.

“This way, hopefully, people will get on the ball a little better,” he said.

Any restaurants or arts-and-crafts businesses in south Routt are welcome to participate in the day-long event.

The second annual Taste of South Routt gives the local vendors a chance to display their specialty dishes, arts, wares and crafts in a festival atmosphere.

Food booths and a beer garden will be the centerpieces at the event.

Bonfiglio still has a couple months to prepare for the event, scheduled for June 24.

Bonfiglio will go in front of the Oak Creek Town Board at the town meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Oak Creek Town Hall
