Firewood permits for the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests are now available for purchase at EPermits.fs2c.usda.gov/

“We are pleased to announce that this online service is available for use on our Forests,” said Russ Bacon, Forest Supervisor, in a news release. “Cutting of firewood is popular on the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests, so the more options we can provide for the public to engage in this activity, the better. We are confident that the public will appreciate this digital option.”

Traditional firewood permits are still available for purchase at local Forest Service offices with the exception of the office in Walden. Currently, Special Forest Product Permits for transplant, mushrooms, herbaceous plants and ferns must still be purchased in-person.

Pricing for firewood in these areas remains at $5 per cord with a minimum four cord purchase equating to $20 per transaction. Permittees are allowed ten cords per year.
