Fire remains at 6 acres in Mount Zirkel Wilderness Area

Matt Stensland

— The South Fork Fire burning in the Mount Zirkel Wilderness Area this week still was an estimated 6 acres in size Friday.

A helicopter that was ordered to help contain the fire was released so it could be used at a higher priority incident. Other aircraft still are being used to monitor the fire.

Closures remain in effect for the Wolverine Basin Area and North Lake Trail, which is Forest Trail 1164.

The potential for the fire to grow in size is low.
