Canyon Creek at EagleRidge condominiums will feature a variety of amenities

— The first of two buildings in Canyon Creek at EagleRidge is nearing completion and the second building has been closed in. When complete, the two buildings will include 44 units total.

Listing Realtor Stephan Baden of Re/Max Steamboat said the model unit at the luxury condominium project is ready for showing and the first building is targeted for completion by the end of November.

“Canyon Creek is a high-end project with an emphasis on quality finishes,” Baden said. “We’re using solid granite countertops, travertine limestones and tumbled marble.”

The earth-tone stucco and stone work on the exterior will be set off by forest green asphalt shingles and copper flashing around the edge of the roof.

Canyon Creek is most visible on Village Drive, but the project’s main entrance is on the quieter EagleRidge Drive, close to a walking path along Burgess Creek. Baden said buyers of Canyon Creek condos are welcome to reserve them for their private use. But the project was designed to fill an opening in the resort rental market for luxury vacation properties that isn’t being fully met.

Despite the many projects built in Steamboat during the last four to five years, many of the new townhomes are not being placed on the vacation rental market by their owners, Baden observed.

Owners will have the use of a lockable closet in each unit, should they choose to put their condominiums in the vacation rental pool. Each unit also offers a ski locker.

Canyon Creek will have its own front desk check-in. And although the project will be within easy walking distance of the gondola building via a bridge over Burgess Creek, shuttle van service will be offered. Canyon Creek will offer its guests heated and secured underground parking. For buyers who want deeded parking, it is available.

Guests at Canyon Creek will benefit from the sound-proofing that comes from concrete floors and double studded “party walls.” Baden said there is a feeling of openness derived from 9-foot ceilings.

Other interior finish qualities include solid wood paneled doors, hardwood trim, gas fireplaces with mantles and custom stone surround slate or stone tile flooring in the entries and kitchen, rustic brass hardware and double sinks in master baths.

The units range in size from a two-bedroom, two-bath condominium measuring 1,106 square feet, to a four-bedroom, three-bath unit of 1,594 square feet.

The amenity package at Canyon Creek includes a year-round heated outdoor pool and an exercise facility with cardiovascular and weight equipment.

One marked difference from the typical townhome, is that all of the Canyon Creek floor plans are contained on a single floor, eliminating staircases within the unit. Both buildings will have elevators for ease of access. All of the floor plans are contained within a single floor of the building.

From a design standpoint, Canyon Creek stands out from many of the surrounding projects, eschewing the look of peeled log posts and timbered roof gables that has dominated condo and townhome construction.

Architect Robert Ralston said he thinks Canyon Creek succeeds in being compatible with neighboring resort properties, while achieving a unique appearance.

The buildings’ architecture is noteworthy for tall exterior staircases with numerous openings that afford views of the mountains.

The staircases extend above the top floor of living space and have their own roofs.
