FERN E. CANADAY
1908-2001
Fern Elizabeth Canaday of Greeley died June 11, 2001, at the Life Care Center of Greeley. She was 92.
She was born Aug. 10, 1908, in Kimball County, N.E. to Raymond C. and Florence E. (Ekstrom) Kauffman.
On October 3, 1928, she married Francis W. Canaday at her parent’s ranch south of Yampa. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Canaday was active in church work and was always willing to help when asked.
She was known in her hometown for her willingness to help transport people to the doctor for appointments.
She enjoyed embroidery painting and provided every grandchild with a special blanket.
She was affectionately accused of being “everyone’s grandma.”
She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Sells of Greeley and Hazel Mackelbergy of San Bernadino, Calif.; a son, Joseph Canady of Aledo, Ill.; a brother, Jim Kauffman of Oak Creek; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and several great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Pearl Kauffman; a daughter, Margaret Miller and a nephew, Dan Kaufmann.
A graveside service was held June 15, 2001, at Crown Hill Cemetery in Denver.
