Farm-to-table dinner benefits livestock judging team

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — The Routt County 4-H Livestock Judging Team is hosting a farm-to-table dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at the I-Design Nursery in Phippsburg, 21250 Colorado Highway 131. Proceeds from the event cover entry fees for state and national competitions as well as transportation and lodging expenses.

One of these national events takes place in October, when three Steamboat Springs High School students and one Steamboat alumna will be heading to the American Royal livestock judging competition in Kansas City. The Routt County 4-H team qualified for the American Royal competition when it placed third at the 4-H State Conference at Colorado State University in June.

The Routt County 4-H livestock judging team is composed of more than 30 youths ages 8 to 18. The team meets for weekly practices with coaches Rod Wille and Rod Olinger from the beginning of March through May to prepare for competitions around Colorado and Wyoming.
