From 11 a.m. to noon, Oak Street will close from Fourth to 10th streets to make way for parade laps prior to the start of the race.

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., there will be rolling closures and up to hour-long delays on the following roads:

— Bussing, biking or walking are highly recommended Monday to avoid the major traffic reroutes and delays in place because of the 2015 USA Pro Challenge.

Professional cyclists will make two laps through downtown Steamboat Springs as part of Stage 1 of the race Monday, making travel through downtown difficult and delayed.

Some popular detour routes, including River Road, also will see delays Monday because of the race, and parking near the race festivities downtown is expected to be sparse.

Here are some tips on how to get around town using various forms of transportation.

Bus transit

Steamboat Springs Transit is preparing for the influx of people and numerous road closures with extra busses and modified routes. Lincoln Avenue from Fifth to 11th streets will be closed all day.

Busses moving through downtown Monday will travel via Oak Street, with regular downtown Lincoln Avenue stops moved to Oak Street using the same cross streets.

Transit buses downtown will be frozen with traffic during the one-hour period on Monday when Oak, Lincoln and Yampa streets are all closed, from approximately 11 a.m. until noon.

Monday’s routes will also add a bus circulating between City Market and the Gondola Transit Center, and a revised condo area bus when traffic is shut down on U.S. Highway 40.

On Monday, buses traveling eastbound — toward the mountain — on U.S. 40 will have no stops between Third Street and Pine Grove Road. Satellite buses will be on hand at Stockbridge Transit Center to dispatch when needed.

“Plan ahead, and if you want to go downtown to watch the races, make sure to get there early,” transit manager Jonathan Flint said in a release.

Busses won’t be exempt from traffic delays, but passengers will be able to exit a stopped bus and continue working to their destination when its safe to do so, Flint said.

Biking

U.S. Highway 40 will be reduced at times to one lane in each direction, so people may be able to pedal their bikes faster on the Yampa River Core Trail to get in and out of downtown.

Park and ride

Parking spaces may be available at the Stock Bridge Transit Center just west of downtown off U.S. Highway 40. From there, it’s a short walk or bus ride to downtown.

Outside Steamboat

Highway transit into and out of Steamboat Springs and through other towns the race is visiting will also be affected. Information on road closures and anticipated delays is available via the Colorado Department of Transportation’s website, cotrip.org.

For real-time information on highway impacts, motorists can sign up on the site for email and text alerts. Daily road closure information is available by calling 511 and information is also posted via CDOT’s Facebook and Twitter profiles.
