Evening of bear stories, photos set for Saturday in Steamboat

Bud Werner Memorial Library and the Steamboat Writers Group present a free evening of bear stories and photos with award-winning author Laura Pritchett at 7 p.m. Saturday at Library Hall.

Pritchett will be talking about her new book, “Great Colorado Bear Stories,” a look at Colorado’s bears, including the grizzlies that once roamed the state.

Pritchett is the author of the novel “Sky Bridge” and a collection of short stories, “Hell’s Bottom, Colorado.” She has had more than 100 essays and short stories published in numerous magazines, including The Sun, Orion and High Country News.

Yampatika naturalists and Colorado Division of Parks and Wildlife representatives will be on hand at Library Hall staring at 6 p.m. with tracks, skulls, pelts and a life-sized bear.

Pritchett’s books will be available for sale during an author signing after the talk. More information is at http://www.steamboatlibrary.org/events.
