Emerald Mountain Trailhead closed for vandalism repair

— Access to trails from the Emerald Mountain Trailhead has been temporarily suspended by the Bureau of Land Management for approximately three weeks beginning June 13 to replace the damaged vault toilet on Cow Creek Road.

The toilet and adjacent trailhead parking were damaged by vandals on Sept. 10, 2015, causing an estimated $100,000 in damage. Work crews need vehicles removed from the trailhead area by midnight June 12. The trailhead will remain closed until construction is complete.

Access to the Ridge and Rotary trails from the trailhead will be suspended during construction. Visitors can access these trails from the first gate on Cow Creek Road off of Routt County Road 33 until work is complete.

The BLM reminds visitors that the area south of the Ridge Trail, including the Beall Trail, is closed until further notice due to elk calving season.
