Elementary boundaries changing

— The Steamboat Spring Board of Education voted to change the boundaries of its two elementary schools in order to follow growth patterns of the community and even out enrollment.

The Soda Creek Elementary boundaries were enlarged to include Copper Mountain Estates, West Acres and the planned Silver Spur Estates subdivision in West Steamboat.

Soda Creek’s enrollment area includes the Old Town and mountain areas, while Strawberry Park’s include the north and west areas of town, where younger families are moving.

This school year, there are 391 students at Soda Creek and 457 students at Strawberry Park. Soda Creek’s enrollment has declined since 1992.

The change will happen for the 2000-2001 school year.
