Eagle Valley marches past Steamboat girls basketball

— The Steamboat Springs High School girls basketball team had its back against the wall Friday night with visiting Eagle Valley, one of the surging teams in the 4A Western Slope League.

The Devils cruised to victory, 54-24, handing the Sailors their third-straight loss.

Eagle Valley built a 29-11 halftime lead and outscored Steamboat in the second half, 25-13.

“We played hard but we just got outgunned,” Steamboat coach Mack Spitellie said. “They’re good.”

Jenna Miller led Steamboat with 10 points. The Sailors will be back in action Saturday against Palisade. The game starts at 12:30 p.m.
