Drunken driver tries to evade cops: The Record for Sunday, Feb. 17

12:19 a.m. A bus driver dropped off a woman and believed they observed a man following the woman in the 3100 block of Chinook Lane. Steamboat Springs Police Department officers were unable to locate either person.
2:41 a.m. Officers conducted a traffic stop near Curve Court and Lincoln Avenue. A person was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. The person also received traffic citations for weaving, not carrying proof of insurance and having an open marijuana container in a motor vehicle.
6:44 a.m. West Routt Fire Protection District firefighters and Yampa Valley Regional Airport firefighters assisted a person who fell and sustained a probable broken arm.
9:31 a.m. A moose cow and calf were hanging around a parking lot of a store in the 1400 block of Pine Grove Road.
11:12 a.m. Oak Creek Fire Protection District firefighters were called to a report of a snowmobile on fire near the former Stagecoach Ski Area.
1:30 p.m. Two neighbors had gotten into an argument the previous night in the 2000 block of Walton Creek Road. One neighbor reported receiving threatening texts from the other.
3:16 p.m. Routt County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue were called to a skier collision at Steamboat Resort.
6:11 p.m. Deputies were called to a report of trespass at a hot springs in the 44000 block of Routt County Road 36.
7:11 p.m. Officers were called to a reported disturbance involving a juvenile in the 900 block of Pine Grove Road.
7:54 p.m. Officers conducted a traffic stop near Apple and Cherry drives. The driver of the car “failed to cooperate with officers.” When he was told he was under arrest for DUI, the man took off in his car. Officers and deputies caught up to the man, who was arrested on suspicion of felony vehicular eluding and misdemeanor charges of DUI, obstructing a police officer and resisting an officer. He also received a traffic citation for reckless driving.
