Drunk woman steals kitten from animal shelter: The Record for Monday, Jan. 21

12:14 a.m. Steamboat Springs Police Department officers responded to a report of underage drinking at Colorado Mountain College. Officers caught several minors with alcohol and issued citations.

12:23 a.m. Officers were called to a disturbance at a bar in the 600 block of Lincoln Avenue. After a bouncer at the bar told a man that he had to pay a fee to get in, the man became upset and hit the bouncer over the head. Officers issued a trespass warning.



2:03 a.m. Officers responded to a report of a fight between six to eight people in the 2300 block of Mount Werner Circle. The reported fight ended before officers arrived.

9:04 a.m. An individual called officers to report that they lost their driver’s license at Steamboat Resort. The individual had an interstate flight scheduled for the next day.



9:06 a.m. Routt County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called by the owners of a rental unit in the 58200 block of Routt County Road 62. The owners found drug paraphernalia, a plastic bag filled with a dirty spoon and a syringe while cleaning out the rental unit recently vacated by a tenant.

2:57 p.m. Officers were called after a woman stole a kitten from an animal shelter in the 700 block of Critter Court. Officers located the vehicle that the woman drove to the shelter, but she was not inside the vehicle. The woman later returned to the vehicle while it was being towed. The woman was drunk and was trying to return the stolen kitten after she heard that the police were looking for her. Officers were on scene and arrested the suspect on charges of larceny and driving under the influence.

4:10 p.m. Deputies arrested a man after he got in a fight with his father in the 36200 block of Routt County Road 179. The man was charged with third-degree assault, criminal mischief and reckless endangerment.

7:41 p.m. Officers were called after a man left a restaurant in the 700 block of Lincoln Avenue without paying his bill. The man later returned to the restaurant and said he thought that his friends had paid the bill. He was able to resolve the payment with the owner of the restaurant.

  • West Routt Fire Protection District firefighters responded to two calls for service.
  • Yampa Fire Protection District firefighters responded to one call for service.
  • Yampa Valley Regional Airport firefighters responded to one call for service.
