Driver arrested on drug charges: The Record for Thursday, May 16

4:32 a.m. Steamboat Springs Police Department officers were flagged down in the 300 block of Lincoln Avenue by several people who had been drinking. Officers gave them a courtesy ride home.
6:25 a.m. Officers received a report of someone finding explosives at a condominium complex in the 1000 block of Mountain Village Circle. The explosives turned out to be fireworks that hadn’t been detonated. Officers took them away for destruction.
9:50 a.m. Officers were called about a disturbance at a bank in the 2100 block of Resort Drive. A customer was angry and arguing with employees after they charged him a fee for cashing a check.
11:43 a.m. Routt County Sheriff’s Office deputies pulled over a driver for following too closely along U.S. Highway 40 near Hayden. The driver was arrested on suspicion on possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
11:49 a.m. The owner of a storage unit in the 2500 block of Copper Ridge Drive called officers after noticing the lock to the unit had been cut off and replaced with a new one. Nothing had been stolen, and a key was in the new lock.

12:56 p.m. Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue firefighters responded to an emergency alarm inside an elevator in the 600 block of Snapdragon Way. A person delivering mail accidentally had pressed the emergency button.
2:21 p.m. Officers were called about the theft of a suitcase at a hotel in the 700 block of South Lincoln Avenue. A man had mistaken the suitcase for his friend’s and driven away with it. He returned it to the hotel after he realized his mistake.
6:59 p.m. Officers conducted a welfare check on a cold and wet man sitting in a parking lot in the 1800 block of Central Park Drive. He was taken to the hospital.
