Donald passed away suddenly May 9, 2017.   Donald was born to Ralph and Margaret Werner Oct 29, 1947 in Steamboat Springs.  Don was the third son of the Werner ranch family.  He attended grade school at the little red Mesa school House at the foot of Rabbit Ears Pass.   He graduated from Steamboat Springs High School in 1965. Don Wrestled for Coach Romano, worked for the Forest Service and missed Vietnam because his older brother cut his thumb off in a ranch accident.

Don married and raised three children, Joe Werner, Margaret Werner/Garcia, and David Werner.   Donald worked in the Denver area, earned a Masters degree in Communications from the University of Colorado.  He moved back to the Yampa Valley in April of 2012.   He spent winters driving for Alpine Taxi and Holiday Inn.  Summers he spent playing with his ole Cougar and Jeep that was his father’s from the ranch.   He did a lot of fishing up on Rabbit Ears close to our ole hunting camp.   Don enjoyed helping with music at various class reunions.   He had recorded thousands of music pieces onto video sticks just for the purpose of entertaining folks.   Don had a keen sense of humor.  He had a lot of friends, obvious by the number of condolences the family has received.

Surviving Don are his three children and two brothers, Robert Werner of Grand Junction and Douglas Werner of Yampa, many cousins, nieces and nephews.  Don will be greatly missed!
