Dog and cat licenses must be renewed by Jan. 31

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — Routt County dog and cat licenses expired Dec. 31, 2018, and new 2019 licenses are required to be purchased by Jan. 31.

All dogs and cats located in the city of Steamboat Springs and within Routt County are required by law to be licensed yearly. The price for the license is $5 for altered animals or $25 for unaltered animals. To purchase a license, pet owners will need to provide proof of a current rabies vaccination.

Licenses can be purchased at Routt County Humane Society, 760 Critter Court, or at a local veterinary office. Residents within the city limits of Hayden, Oak Creek and Yampa require their own city license. Check with town halls in each location for additional information.

Anyone who loses their 2019 license after purchasing it for this year will be required to buy a replacement tag for $2 from the Routt County Humane Society.
