District 4: Robin Crossan on the issues

Steamboat Springs School Board District 4

Robin Crossan

Age: 47

Occupation: Mom; former facilities director for Federated Department Stores in New York

On theissues:

Montessori: Believes in the Montessori concept but says it should be funded by private dollars as a private school. Supports the School Board’s stance but believes two sides should communicate to resolve their differences outside of court.

Small class size: Small class size will always benefit children, should be consistently monitored and is a top priority along with having strong teachers, supportive parents and a proven curriculum.

Policy governance: Can be used effectively to run a school district, but this district has unfortunately seen the “bad side” of policy governance over the past year. Community needs to be educated on how policy governance works.
