Debbie McLain: Constitution feedback
I would like to publicly thank the Craig, Steamboat Springs and Maybell communities for their enthusiastic support and promotion of Constitution Week. The positive feedback, interest and expressions of appreciation have been phenomenal. The coverage by the Craig Daily Press, Steamboat Today and KRAI’s public announcements really helped get the word out, and we have received numerous comments and phone calls because of them. Mr. Petrone and all of the Moffat County schools provided tremendous support and cooperation. I also want to express my appreciation to Chris at the Copy Shop. Without his hard work getting all of the printing done at the last minute, none of this would have been possible.
It is very exciting and encouraging that our efforts to increase awareness by celebrating Constitution Week have sparked children’s and rekindled adults’ interest in this important document.
It is my sincere hope that citizens of all ages come away from Constitution Week with greater appreciation of the tenacity and sacrifices of generations of Americans throughout history; the understanding that the United States Constitution is not only the foundation but also a living document that guarantees the freedoms Americans enjoy; and the realization that to maintain those freedoms, each and every one of us has the responsibility to protect and defend the Constitution, preserving it for our posterity.
