Dead dog turns out to be a dead porcupine: The Record for Friday, Feb. 16, 2018

3:34 a.m. Steamboat Springs Police Department officers were called to a report of a suspicious person in the 500 block of South Lincoln Avenue. When the officers arrived, they found a man was trying to warm up from the cold near the convenience store.

 

8:25 a.m. Officers were called to a report of someone who said they spotted a dead dog on the trail near the Butcherknife Creek trailhead. Upon inspection, it turned out to be a dead porcupine.

 

9:03 a.m. Officers were called to a report of theft in the 500 block of Anglers Drive when a purse was taken from a vehicle. It has not been located.

 

3:44 p.m. Officers were called to a report of two moose in the area near 13th Street.

 

3:52 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a missing ID near the base of Steamboat Ski Area.
