Cyclist seriously injured in Thursday night collision

— A 27-year-old woman was seriously injured in a bicycle collision Thursday night and flown to Denver for treatment.

At 11:03 p.m., Steamboat Springs Police Department officers and Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue firefighters were called to a report of an unconscious woman at Chinook Lane and Willowbrook Court.

Sgt. Rich Brown said the woman and another cyclist were cycling in opposite directions and collided. The cyclists were not using lights, and the woman was not wearing a helmet.

Brown said Friday night that the woman was still being treated for her injuries, which included head injuries. She was in serious but stable condition.
