Crime Prevention Tip of the Week: Beware of your belongings

The Steamboat Springs Police Department has seen a recent rise in thefts of jackets. As of late, thieves have been targeting bars and restaurants taking unattended items containing valuable personal property.

You are encouraged to keep any valuable items on your person and your personal belongings within sight. If you must leave items unattended, make sure someone else is watching over them. If you witness anyone taking someone else's property, contact the police department or anonymously report the information to Crime Stoppers.

Facts about Colorado DWAI, DUI and DUID laws

DUI: Driving Under the Influence. If a person's BAC (Blood Alcohol Content) is greater than 0.08, they can be charged with DUI.

• DWAI: Driving While Ability Impaired. This equates to a person having a BAC between 0.05 and 0.079 or being impaired to the slightest degree by other substances other than alcohol.

• DUID: Driving Under the Influence of Drugs. A person being under the influence of any substance that can impair a person's ability to operate a vehicle safely. Prescription marijuana and other drugs do not exempt people from being charged with DUID.
